(Because you’ve got to do what works with your life, personality and responsibilities.)

So… you’ve Googled “Celebrant Course Online”

You’ve fallen down the rabbit hole. You’re excited, a bit terrified, and suddenly confronted with another big question:

Should I take a celebrant course online… or in person?

Kate T and Kate D hear this all the time. And the answer isn’t one-size-fits-all.

So let’s break down the pros, cons, and honest truth — because choosing the right celebrant course online can make all the difference.

Why Some People Love A Celebrant Course Online

Online celebrant training has exploded in the past few years. And for good reason:

Flexibility

  • You can learn around your kids, your job, care responsibilities, or your over-anxious dog.
  • No travel costs, no hotel stays, no trying to find childcare — or a dog-sitter!

Pace Yourself

  • Go as fast or as slow as you need.
  • Rewatch videos and revisit resources whenever you like.

Less Pressure

  • No need to “perform” in front of a whole group if that feels scary at first.
  • Unlimited ongoing support (M&D have got your back for the long haul).

Actually Fun to Do!

  • We get amazing feedback from people who say our course is fun, engaging, and genuinely entertaining.
  • Some binge-watch modules because they love it so much — and love being able to revisit things any time they like.

The Kates have had students say they weren’t keen on online courses until they did a Match and Dispatch course – they loved it soooo much they were online course converts!

But Online Isn’t Perfect…

Challenges with a celebrant course online:

⚠️ Less Immediate Feedback

  • You might miss out on live, spontaneous practice with others right there beside you.

⚠️ Isolation

  • Celebrancy can feel a bit lonely if you’re working solo from day one.
  • It’s great to connect with other trainees and mentors.

⚠️ Tech Trouble

  • Zoom is marvellous… until your WiFi decides otherwise.

That’s why, at Match and Dispatch, our celebrant course online has:

  • Live tutorials where you can ask questions in real time and get actual human-being support. And, what’s more, these are not limited in any way… you can keep coming back even once you’ve graduated from the course.
  • A closed Facebook group full of gorgeous M&D celebrants, so you’re part of a community from day one
  • Plenty of practical exercises to keep it interactive and real-world

Why Some People Still Consider In-Person Training

While we don’t offer in-person training ourselves, we know some people love it because:

  • They thrive on instant practice and live feedback
  • They enjoy the buzz of learning in a room full of future celebrants
  • They like networking face-to-face and making celebrant friends for life

But let’s be honest — in-person training isn’t always easy:

  • It can mean time away from family, work, or caring responsibilities.
  • It comes with travel and accommodation costs.
  • It can be a lot of information crammed into a few intense days. (The Kates know how they’ve done courses, looked at their notes a week later and thought … WTF?)

So… Which Should You Choose?

Here’s the honest truth:

Neither is “better.” It’s about what’s best for YOU.

Questions to ask yourself:

  • Would flexibility work for me? I can always set my own schedule.
  • Do I need to take time out of my life/work/responsibilities… and how easy is this for me?
  • What can I realistically afford — both in time and money?

If flexibility, fun, and ongoing support sound good to you — Our celebrant course online could be perfect.

The Match and Dispatch Approach

At Match and Dispatch, our celebrant course online is:

  • Entirely online — so you can fit it around real life
  • Packed with live sessions, practical tips, and no endless clicking through slides alone
  • Designed to be engaging, honest, and actually enjoyable
  • Community-focused – we’re a gang and we’d love you to be part of it!

Kate T and Kate D are still practising celebrants, so they’re teaching the stuff that actually happens:

  • How to handle last-minute changes
  • What to say when emotions get big
  • How to market yourself authentically (and avoid the ick factor)

Whether you’re new to celebrancy or looking to expand your skills, our aim is always the same: to get you ready for real ceremonies, real clients, and a real business.

  • “I’m not sure if a celebrant course online will work for me…”
  • “I want to train properly, not just dabble.”
  • “I’d love to chat to celebrants who’ve done it already.”

We’d love to help.
